We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve the Codex Vitae platform

  • Assist users with onboarding, uploads, and directive workflows

  • Execute posthumous digital directives (e.g., media delivery, closure requests)

  • Monitor system performance and detect potential abuse (e.g., bots)

  • Conduct product testing, feature rollouts, and UX optimization

  • Support legally authorized third-party access (e.g., estate attorneys)

  • Stripe (payment processing – Codex Vitae never stores card numbers)

  • OpenAI, Whisper, ElevenLabs, Stability AI (AI services – metadata only, no raw files)

  • Google reCAPTCHA v3 (bot prevention)

All third-party integrations are reviewed for compliance with our security standards.


6. AI Systems and Automation

Codex Vitae incorporates AI to assist with organizing, interpreting, and storytelling from digital uploads. Key proprietary systems include:

  • SortiumOrana™ – intelligent pre-upload filtering and de-duplication

  • CodexNarrum™ – life story narrative generation based on metadata and cluster patterns

  • CodexGraph™ – relationship and timeline modeling for event mapping

  • DirectiveOS™ – workflow engine for managing digital directives and posthumous tasks

These tools:

  • Respect zero-knowledge principles (AI systems never access raw, unencrypted content)

  • Use only metadata (e.g., timestamps, filetype, image structure, filename, device info)

  • Never train third-party or Codex Vitae models on your data

  • Can be opted out of for non-essential features (email [email protected])

AI outputs are designed to support, not replace, human legal, medical, or emotional judgment.


7. Data Retention

We retain your information only while:

  • Your account is active

  • A directive, legal partnership, or institutional plan remains in effect

  • Required by applicable law or platform policies

You may request complete deletion of your vault, account, and associated metadata at any time.


8. International Data Transfers

Codex Vitae operates from the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., your information will be transferred and processed according to:

  • The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

  • The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

  • Other relevant U.S. and international data privacy frameworks

Enterprise and institutional clients may request sovereign hosting or country-specific legal agreements.


9. Children’s Privacy

Codex Vitae does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. If such data is discovered, it will be deleted immediately. Our services are intended for adults or legal representatives of adults only.


10. Your Privacy Rights

As a user of Codex Vitae, you may:

  • View and update your account information

  • Export all stored vault and directive data

  • Delete your account and all encrypted content

  • Revoke access previously granted to partners or institutions

  • Request opt-out from non-essential AI processing

11. Policy Updates

We may revise this Privacy Policy as new features, technologies, or laws arise. Any material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice, and the “Effective Date” above will be updated.
