This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") governs the use of the Codex Vitae websites, applications, digital vaults, partner tools, and related services (collectively, the "Services") provided by Codex Vitae, Inc. ("Codex Vitae," "we," "us," or "our").
This Policy supplements the Codex Vitae Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By using the Services, you agree to comply with this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, you must not use the Services.
1. Purpose of the Platform
Codex Vitae is a digital legacy infrastructure platform designed to help individuals organize, preserve, and structure personal digital archives. These archives may include photographs, videos, personal writing, messages, documents, and other personal digital materials.
The platform is intended for responsible digital legacy management. It provides tools that allow individuals to prepare and structure their digital materials so they may be preserved and accessed by designated people in the future.
All use of the Services must be consistent with this purpose and in compliance with applicable law.
2. Prohibited Uses
Users may not use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful, harmful, or inconsistent with the intended use of the platform. The following activities are expressly prohibited:
2.1 Illegal Activity
Using the Services to engage in, facilitate, or promote any activity that violates applicable local, state, national, or international law.
2.2 Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
Uploading, storing, transmitting, or distributing child sexual abuse material is strictly prohibited. Codex Vitae maintains a zero-tolerance policy for CSAM. Under United States law, including 18 U.S.C. §2258A, online service providers are required to report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Suspected CSAM will be blocked, reported, and the associated account may be immediately suspended.
2.3 Violent or Extremist Content
Uploading, storing, or distributing content that promotes, glorifies, or incites violence, terrorism, or violent extremism.
2.4 Harassment and Threats
Using the Services to harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or target any individual, including other users, platform personnel, or third parties.
2.5 Human Trafficking Content
Using the Services to facilitate, promote, or distribute content related to human trafficking, forced labor, or exploitation.
2.6 Distribution of Unlawful Materials
Using the Services to store, distribute, or transmit materials that are illegal under applicable law, including but not limited to pirated content, stolen intellectual property, or materials that violate export control regulations.
2.7 Malware and Malicious Code
Uploading, transmitting, or distributing malware, viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware, or any other malicious software or code designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
2.8 Unauthorized System Access
Attempting to gain unauthorized access to platform infrastructure, systems, networks, accounts, or data belonging to Codex Vitae or other users. This includes attempting to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features, access controls, or content moderation systems.
2.9 Unauthorized Access to User Data
Accessing, downloading, copying, or modifying the vault contents, account information, or personal data of any other user without proper authorization.
2.10 Platform Abuse and Disruption
Using the Services in a manner that disrupts, degrades, or interferes with platform operations, system availability, or the experience of other users. This includes large-scale automated scanning, excessive bandwidth consumption, or using the platform as a public file hosting or mass distribution service.
3. User Content Responsibilities
Users are responsible for all content they upload, store, organize, or manage within their vault or through the Services.
Users must ensure that their content:
- Complies with all applicable laws and regulations
- Does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, or trade secrets
- Does not violate the privacy, publicity, or other personal rights of any individual
- Does not contain false, misleading, or fraudulent information intended to deceive others
- Is consistent with the intended purpose of the platform as a digital legacy preservation tool
Users retain ownership of their content. By uploading content to the Services, users grant Codex Vitae a limited license to store, process, and manage that content as described in the Terms of Service.
4. Privacy and Personal Data
Users must respect the privacy and personal data of other individuals when using the Services. Users may not:
- Upload personal data belonging to other individuals without proper consent or legal authorization
- Use the Services to collect, harvest, or aggregate personal information about other users or third parties
- Share vault access credentials with unauthorized individuals
- Use the platform to circumvent data protection laws or regulations

5. AI and Automated Systems
Codex Vitae may provide AI-assisted tools and automated systems designed to help users organize, classify, and manage their digital archives. These tools are intended to support users in curating their personal materials and are provided as part of the platform experience.
When using AI-assisted features, users agree not to:
- Exploit, manipulate, or reverse-engineer AI systems or automated tools provided by the platform
- Attempt to extract, replicate, or repurpose underlying models, algorithms, or training data
- Use AI outputs in a manner that misrepresents their nature or accuracy
- Interfere with content safety or moderation systems that operate as part of the platform
User vault content is not used to train AI models unless explicitly authorized by the user. AI features within the platform operate only to assist the individual user with organizing or preparing their own digital archives. For more details, review the Privacy Policy.
6. Enforcement
Codex Vitae reserves the right to take action in response to violations of this Policy. Enforcement actions may include, but are not limited to:
- Issuing warnings or notices regarding policy-violating content or behavior
- Removal, restriction, or quarantine of content that violates this Policy
- Temporary suspension of account access
- Permanent termination of accounts and Services
- Reporting unlawful activity to appropriate law enforcement authorities, regulatory agencies, or other organizations as required or permitted by law
- Preservation of content and associated metadata for investigation or legal compliance purposes
Codex Vitae may employ automated safety and compliance systems to detect and respond to potential violations. Certain safety decisions cannot be overridden by user preferences or vault-level configurations.
The severity of enforcement actions will be determined at the discretion of Codex Vitae based on the nature, scope, and impact of the violation.
7. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of content or behavior on the platform that you believe violates this Policy, please report it to:
When submitting a report, please include as much relevant information as possible, including a description of the content or behavior in question and any supporting details that may assist in the investigation.
Codex Vitae will review reports and take appropriate action in accordance with this Policy and applicable law. We may not be able to disclose the specific outcome of an investigation due to privacy and legal considerations.

8. Changes to This Policy
Codex Vitae may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the platform, applicable law, or operational practices. Updated versions will be published on the Codex Vitae website with a revised "Last Updated" date.
Material changes to this Policy will be communicated through email, in-platform notices, or updates to the website. Continued use of the Services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
